On September 27th, 2008, the giant rusty gates of Wonka’s Chocolate Factory will be smashed open. The door is wide ajar, the sweets fresh and plentiful, and, no children, there are no hours, clerks, or registers!!! We’ve accumulated a stockpile of goodies and, up until now, we’ve been hoarding. So we’ve finally decided to role up our sleeves and start passing it out to all the desperate children who have been subsisting on stale bread and butter milk for much to long. From the extremely sweet to the sophisticatedly bitter yet subtlety delicious, we’ve got every type of candy you can imagine: big, small, soft, hard, salty, sweet, bitter, spicy, you name it! All we ask is that you come with a friend, that they bring a friend, and whatever you do, DON’T TELL YOUR PARENTS…we can keep a secret if you can.

Dope Jam’s latest in-store party is about one thing: having fun, and damnit, we will do anything and everything in our power to establish the set and setting to allow this to take place. We’ve laid out some guidelines to make sure we can get together at our proverbial tree house without the fun being spoiled by one of our less-than-happy classmates, you know, the one that just can’t stand to see his peers getting together without him. SO: make sure to leave any pretensions, airs of cultural superiority, rigid social constraints, boring conversation, condescending dislike of drunkenness, and fears of honest self-expression and release at home; don’t worry, you can always bring them to school tomorrow, where you can separate back into your social groupings and sit at different tables and never speak to each other again. But on this one night let’s collectively attempt the uncomfortable but ultimately rewarding endeavor of forced social intermingling and suspension of constrained desire, dissolving momentarily the conservative social restrictions of the external world and for once, no matter how offensive or confrontational it may feel, walk into the uncharted terrain of collective cathartic release.
