DG9 LIVE

Despite emerging from the shadows of the city¹s great expansive wasteland that we know as New York for an occasional breath of putrid air, DG9 has made the most marginalized sectors of society his comfortable home. In search of radical new approaches to the very conceptualization of sound and spectacle, his personality and origins remain fractured and uncertain; what is known for sure is that the man we know as DG9 once mingled within the confines of the modern music industry, negotiating the bureaucratic intricacies of the watchdogs of creative expression in following his natural calling for musical creation and performance. The clear need for a complete re-sculpting of the very technique, nay, the philosophy guiding the creation and exploration of music led DG9 away from the light and towards the warm, murky darkness of anti-melodies, twisted mutations of reverberation and synthetic amalgamations of sound that form the unseen backbone of all positive noise, the dark space of non-creation that, from this negative space, all form springs forth. From this original essence, the dark matter of anti-life, comes the substance of DG9¹s praxis. Perhaps more importantly, the consciousness of delivery, the integration of presentation, performance, visual stimulus & and aural excitement combined, this awareness of a cohesive totality, a complete aural philosophy, has formed DG9¹s approach.

Having stood firm to their uncompromising integrity & stubborn purism, SLOW TO SPEAK¹S Francis Englehardt & Paul Nickerson are no strangers to the sometimes uncomfortable but ultimately rewarding world of musical experimentation & risk taking. Having arisen from early 1990¹s party culture, these two appreciate the necessity both of abrasive tastemaking & mass appeal through the medium of DJ¹ing, and throughout their years have made it their mission to seamlessly combine these two approaches to create a real party. With this ever-solidifying philosophy, Englehardt & Nickerson answer the call to ritual gathering once more as they host DG9 at their very own stomping ground, Brooklyn, NY¹s DOPE JAMS. Expect a party, a good time, an experience, but most importantly, refuse to expect anything. Spontaneity will be the sole guideline of this event. ALWAYS FORWARD.
